Mingpao Weekly #2271: Rosy Business 3 to start filming next year? It all lies with Sheren Tang and Lee Tim Shing.
Scans from Mingpao Weekly #2271
Sheren Tang and Wayne Lai won their TV King and Queen awards consecutively thanks to the dramas Rosy Business and No Regrets. These dramas had once fuelled a wave of drama-watching here and swept major awards in award ceremonies. TVB has the intention of preparing to film Rosy Business 3 (RB 3). However, once Sheren has finished filming Beauty at War, her contract with TVB will come to an end. Ricky Wong has also made known his intention to ask her to join his new company CTI. Sheren places great emphasis on money and good scripts, so it is not known what her next move will be. On top of that, golden producer Lee Tim Shing is said to be retiring at the end of this year, so in order for RB 3 to materialise, it has to overcome these 2 "hurdles" first.

The charm of both Wayne Lai and Sheren Tang, who both won their TV King and Queen awards twice in a row, cannot be denied. Together with Teresa Mo, all three of them performed together in what Wayne termed as the 'date of the century'. He said that it was such a rare opportunity that all three of them, who are widely widely recognised as good actors, even got to showcase their acting skills. The ones who got to benefit the most were those fans who came from all over the world to see them perform; However, Wayne relishes all these. As for Sheren, she had an image makeover thanks to Mo Mo and showed off her feminine side...

TVBE news featuring all the No Regrets people
Wayne Lai and Sheren Tang attended the Mingpao Weekly Entertainment Awards 2011 together. Wayne won the 'Most Outstanding Actor' award based on No Regrets while Sheren Tang also won the 'Most Outstanding Actress' award based on the same drama. No Regrets also triumphed the other nominees by winning the 'Most Outstanding TV Programme'.
At the awards ceremony, Sheren and Wayne, who won the 'Most Outstanding Actor' and 'Most Outstanding Actress' awards together, were in a very good mood. They exhibited good chemistry in and outside the drama. After seeing their 'intimate' expressions, it was not surprising to see fans from both sides getting jealous.

Comments: It's really great to know that even though it has been 2 months since No Regrets ended its run in Hong Kong, it's still generating much discussion and news. ^^ Watch this video, and watch the funny side of our No Regrets' cast members! Wong Cho Lam's Gau Mui is really a joy to watch, while Pierre Ngo's rapping skills are really good! Enjoy, and have a really happy Chinese New Year! ^^

Here's the finale video that was first shown on myTV. The video was taken when No Regrets' and Someday's finale episodes were aired at TVB City. Enjoy!! ^^

Comments: Wow... The female artistes really cried a lot! =( Sheren kept choking on her tears... And did I see Pierre crying too? =/
I totally agree with Tim Gor! Even the third and fourth-line artistes deserve our recognition and salutation. Especially for those "Japanese soldiers" in the drama... I really salute them for spending so much time to practise their Japanese. "Uncle Ming" actually had somebody to coach him in Japanese. No wonder his Japanese sounded really so fluent and nice! ^^ They are part of the crew that made No Regrets so memorable, no matter how small their roles are.

Sheren Tang, Lee Tim Shing and Wayne Lai set new records with No Regrets. However, Wayne Lai has no intention to film the third installment. (I purposely made this phrase bigger lol!)
No Regrets, starring Wayne Lai and Sheren Tang as leads, ended with high ratings of 47 points, with 3 million viewers watching and crying at the same time. Last Sunday, No Regrets dominated the awards ceremony, with Sheren Tang and Wayne Lai winning Best Actress and Best Actor again, and Evergreen Mak and Fala Chen winning Best Supporting Actor and Best Supporting Actress.
Virginia Lok: TVB has a lot of money
TVB deputy executive chairman Mr Norman Leung is very happy with No Regrets' results, and invited everybody involved in this drama for dinner at a Western food restaurant. Wayne and Sheren naturally became the centre of attraction, and even the actors who played the Japanese soldiers were also present.
After that, Sheren interacted with a few TVB high executives including Stephan Chan, Virginia Lok and Catherine Tsang. Lok has dangled attractive terms in order to coax Sheren and Wayne into signing a contract with TVB. She said, "In the past, we didn't dare to bring up this matter, because we're afraid it would affect the results. This is now the good time to bring it up. We are very sincere. TVB has the most money. However, Wayne's wife is his manager, and will forever be. Sheren also has a manager whom she gets along very well with. Unless her manager retires, I don't think she'll sign on with TVB."
As to whether she'll sign on with TVB, Sheren said, "If my manager retires, TVB will have the upper hand. I've always filmed TVB dramas without any bond, and I don't know when I'll retire." Will she take this chance to increase her pay? Sheren joked that Gau Mui has a lot of money.
As for Wayne, he has no intention of asking for a higher pay, but has jokingly praised himself for being worth so much money.

Pierre Ngo wants to be first-line actor
Pierre Ngo's portrayal as Pai Guat in No Regrets has earned him praises, and he has become a hot candidate for this year's Best Supporting Actor award. Earlier on, he was involved in a fight with martial arts master Sai Ho Ying, making headlines on the gossip magazines. As a second-line actor (supporting role), he has already overshadowed the leads Wayne Lai and Sheren Tang. It is not know if Pierre will get "promoted", but he wishes to become a lead one day.
Worries that he might cry uncontrollably
Pierre Ngo is very thankful to producer Lee Tim Shing for giving him a chance again to shine, and says that he is anticipating Pai Guat's character when he first received the script. "For the beginning of this drama, Tim Gor has added quite a few scenes for me. At first, I was worried as this is the first drama that requires me to cry a lot. Filming was tough, and even Wayne said that my character is hard to act out. I must be able to grasp and portray this character accurately. When everybody was filming episode 3, they were all very worried for me. Evergreen Mak even told me that he was afraid I would cry uncontrollably, because even after the camera stopped shooting, I was still crying! After that, when my grandmother died and after I killed King Kong, I cried even harder. Nobody pulled me aside to tell me to stop crying, and everybody started crying as well, including part-time artistes! Probably because they are older, and they will think about the Japanese Occupation. Before the filming, I went to the internet and watched some films regarding the Japanese Occupation, and took note of the Japanese' faces as well as the sufferings of the people. We spent 4 months filming this drama, and we must first feel before we can move the audience. For this drama, I have to keep my eyes swollen for the whole day. I may have eye-bags now, but it is all right."
Finally, TVB has people who can act
No Regrets may have only aired a few episodes, but there have already been rave reviews. Pierre said that even guys have come up to him and said that they cried while watching this drama, and many people have praised him for his outstanding acting skills as well. Pierre said, "Every time I come home, I will switch on the computer and go onto the internet to read the netizens' comments and views. Seniors like Felix Wong have also praised me on Weibo, saying that finally, TVB has people who can act. When I go back to the company, those costume designers and make-up artists who have watched me grow up have already praised me, saying that I have already matured. After hearing all these, I'm really very touched. However, some netizens have also said that we over-acted. To be frank, I feel comfortable watching ourselves, because the script is like that, and I have personally seen people argue in this way as well.
Role is more important than prize
Now that he has made his name, Pierre is asked whether he has the confidence to become a male lead in TVB. Pierre said that it is not important whether he gets a prize or not, but said that he hopes to be a male lead in a drama one day. "Some reporters have asked me whether I still want to get the Most Improved Male award, which I have already gotten last year. As for whether I want to get this year's Best Support Actor, it is up to fate. After getting the Most Improved Male award, I have many more job offers, and my salary has even increased! You may ask if I have anymore wants? I do not have any! I am now a second-line actor (supporting role), and I do wish to become a first-line actor (lead role) one day. But the most important thing is that I want a good role.

Comments: I do believe that Pierre, with his good acting skills, will be able to rise up to become a male lead some day! =D He has really matured a lot in this acting. My first impression of him was in War and Beauty, as the eunuch who kept bullying Yu Fei (Sheren Tang) when she lost her power. 6 years have passed and now we see him as Pai Guat. Pai Guat will definitely become one of Pierre's representative role. =)

Shopping centres rush to be host venues for No Regrets' ending
Wayne Lai and Sheren Tang have not seen their new drama. This night, when it aired, everybody sat down to watch it together. Tim Gor was nervously standing behind the both of them and watching their reactions.
Last year's Rosy Business' grabbed the Best Drama, TV King, TV Queen, Best Supporting Actress and Most Improved Male Actor awards. This year, the original cast and crew came up with No Regrets. Even though the drama had not been aired yet, but its popularity cannot be denied. Many big shopping centres are now rushing to become host venues No Regrets' ending and have already named high prices to host it. Besides winning on the popularity side, it seems that TVB will be getting a lot of money as well!

Sheren Tang, Wayne Lai and Producer Lee hoping for good ratings.
Sheren Tang and Wayne Lai have promised to treat everybody to dinner if they set ratings records.
The artistes promoting No Regrets.
Wayne Lai and Sheren Tang.
According to the Hong Kong media, Wayne Lai and Sheren Tang were promoting their drama, No Regrets, yesterday. Wayne said that even if the online ratings were not counted in, the drama will definitely break Dae Jang Geum's ratings records. When asked whether he will bring everybody on a trip if the ratings were broken, Wayne immediately pulled Sheren "into the water" as well, and said that he will definitely treat them to dinner. They have confidence that this drama will be able to win the "Best Drama" award.
Wayne, Sheren, Fala, Raymond, Susan, Pierre and the rest were promoting No Regrets. All of them turned up in their drama costumes. They were beating drums as well as shouting fervently, bringing the atmosphere to a new high. Meanwhile, Producer Lee has said, "If this drama is not nice to watch, I will go back to my village and pick cow dung!" Sheren joked, "I will open a farm that sells cow dung!" Fala said, "I will go back to USA and pick cow dung as well!" Sheren also mentioned that Wayne had promised them an overseas trip when the 1st installment had good ratings. She asked, "Will you treat us this year?" Wayne replied, "I think we will break the ratings record this year. You earn so much money! We can treat them together!"
Confidence for "Best Drama" award
After that, when asked whether No Regrets can break Dae Jang Geum's ratings, Wayne said, "Even if the online ratings are not taken into account, we can still break the records. The current record-holder is a Korean drama, of course we will want to break it. (Will you treat everybody to an overseas trip if the ratings is broken?) No, I won't, but I will definitely treat everybody to a meal." Sheren has to go back to Mainland China to continue filming her drama after watching the first episode, so he has to promote the drama by himself. Wayne joked, "She has specially came back just to promote this drama. It's been tough on her." He hopes that the premiere episode will be able o reach 38 points, and has the confidence to beat Can't Buy Me Love in order to win the "Best Drama" award.
When Wayne mentioned that Sheren must also treat everybody if they break the ratings records, she laughed, "I don't see him sharing his awards (the 3 prizes that he won last year) with me!" She also mentioned, "I have to go back to China after watching the first episode, so after the lighting ceremony, I won't do anything else but to watch this drama. After that, I will try to come back more often to promote this drama. I have sacrificed a lot for this drama."
Fala Chen's rape scene keeps everybody in suspense
Fala Chen's character will be bullied and insulted by the Japanese. When asked about it, Fala kept everybody in suspense. "I believe that everybody will not be looking at my figure, but instead, will feel touched by what Lau Ching had to do for her family." As for Pierre, who has many scenes with Wayne, when asked whether he has the confidence to win "Best Supporting Actor" this time round, he said, "It's difficult to say, because there are so many competitors!"

Comments: Haha! It's so cute of Sheren to suggest going to South Korea if they ever beat Dae Jang Geum's ratings. xD Anyway, are they really serious?! Go pick cow dung?! Wow, they must really have confidence in No Regrets then! I wish them all the best! =D I notice that Wayne keeps emphasising that there is no need to add online ratings in order to make ratings go up to 50 points. DO YOU HEAR THAT, MUI SIU CHING (producer of Can't Buy Me Love)?! You and your stupid and dirty tricks. Go pawn Dae Jang Geum and all other TVB dramas, No Regrets! ^^

No Regrets has not aired yet, but it has been garnering much attention. When asked whether he has the confidence to win the Best Actor award again, Wayne Lai said, "I don't have the confidence, but I will give my best!" If they break the ratings record, how will they reward themselves? He said, "You should ask how the company will reward us!" Pierre Ngo added, "Film a third series!"
Wayne, Pierre and Fala Chen were in Malaysia to promote No Regrets, which will be aired on Astro On Demand on 18th October 2010. Wayne, being last year's 42nd TVB Annivesary biggest winner, naturally became the centre of attraction. When asked whether he and Sheren Tang will have a happy ending, he said, "The flower may bloom, but it may not be the fruit that everyone expects since different people have different standards. However, in my opinion, the ending is a perfect one. It is really difficult to put ones' feelings to words as they are very abstract."
From Chai Gau to Lau Sing, Wayne mentioned that the direction of this drama will be different from Rosy Business, so he won't utter any golden phrases. However, he guaranteed that the storyline will be more dramatic, and that everybody will be given their due time to act their scenes. Pierre said that he will no longer be the bad guy, but will be a country bumpkin with a lowly status. Fala, who is a new addition to the cast, will be acting as a sickly person for the first time. She has also consulted her "brother", Wayne, for advice.
Michael Tse has moved into the movie industry with his character, "Laughing Gor". Raymond Lam, whom TVB has been promoting very aggressively, has also continually accepted offers to film movies. Will Wayne want to be a movie lead? He has since refuted such claims, saying that "I have no interest in filming movies as I am more inclined towards filming dramas."
- Credits to ent.sinchew-i.com
Comments: Hmm, Wayne is really different from Fala. Fala has greater ambitions and wants to move into the movie industry. I agree that by moving into the movie industry, one will receive more recognition from the rest of the world, especially if the movie is good. However, I think I will still prefer Wayne to film dramas instead. He should capitalise on his fame now and film more good dramas! ^^ I think I saw some scenes from the drama in that video! Will those scenes be part of the MV? Sally posted the pictures up on Baidu, but it's a bit unclear, so I won't post them here. But from those photos, I can really tell you that Sheren is so cute heehee! =3 And oh no, I hope the ending won't be a bad one for our dear Sherayne! >.<

Comments: Waa! Wayne looks so suave, Pierre looks so handsome, and Fala has gotten prettier (she's already very pretty in the first place!). And I'm glad Fala speaks Cantonese really fluently! =D She has no more accent! She speaks like a true-blue Hong Konger now! Go Fala! =D
Interview with Wayne, Pierre and Fala
I managed to catch some parts of the interview with Wayne Lai, Pierre Ngo and Fala Chen on MY FM. I didn't managed to catch all of it because I had to eat my dinner, but YES! I MANAGED TO HEAR THE THEME SONG FOR NO REGRETS! =D Since this is only part of the song, I will only translate the lyrics for the theme song only when the full song comes out! ^^
Since it was a radio interview, so there are no videos. But I've attached the podcasts below. It will take some time to load since the files are quite big though! =(
Interview with My FM @ Malaysia (Part 1)
Interview with My FM @ Malaysia (Part 2)
- Wayne Lai said that No Regrets will become his representative work.
- He also said while filming this drama, he could really feel the passion from the back-stage crew to the actors themselves. He really enjoyed the filming process.
