Recap: Episode 2 - Pai Guat Accused

| Friday, November 5, 2010 | 1 comments |
A very Pai Guat-centric episode for all the Pierre fans. ^^ And the second time Lau Sing gets to see what tricks Gau Mui has up her sleeve for the Sheren/Wayne fans!

Even though Fei Fan's arrival and Pai Guat's injury disturbed Lau Sing's plan, with excellent shooting skills and spirit, his team manages to win the battle with the convicts. However, when the police chief visits the station to commend them on their efforts, announcing whoever helped kill the convicts will get a promotion. Fei Fan proudly replies that he was the one responsible for all 6 deaths and receives the $1000 reward. He only condescendingly gives Lau Sing's team $10 to buy dinner for themselves. He takes it grudgingly and rushes off to the locker room where Pai Guat is sitting alone, tending to his wound. Lau Sing blames him for not listening to his orders and ruining the whole operation. He says that in his experience as detective, there is no one as stupid as Pai Guat that could ever be a good policeman. Pai Guat continues to apologize but Lau Sing is too angry to listen to him. Instead he asks Pai Guat to do the team a favor and just quit. The team feels sorry for Pai Guat and asks Lau Sing to give him one more chance. Lau Sing finally becomes soft-hearted and lets him stay. Pai Guat secretly calls his grandmother back home and is discovered by Lau Sing who once again yells at him not to make the team look bad.

Recap: Episode 1 - Lau Sing Meets Gau Mui

Hey everyone! Mandy here. Dreamlucky has graciously allowed me to contribute to this blog by doing recaps for No Regrets. I'm also a huge fan of Sheren and Wayne so hopefully this will help fellow fans and do the show some justice. ^^ Enjoy and feel free to comment on your favorite episodes too!

It's the year 1984. Workers at a building site in Cow Mountain, Guangzhou have discovered many human bones underneath the soil during construction. This captures the attention of the media, who believe it may be the "Pit of Ten Thousand Corpses" where the Japanese army buried many Anti-Jap Chinese citizens. Gau Mui, now a grandmother, arrives at the site with her granddaughter, Yeung Yeung, and Pai Guat to help give information about the war to the Chinese Cultural Preservation Society. At the sight of the pit, tears rise in Gau Mui's eyes and she remembers a scene that happened here in the year 1944... She had asked Lau Sing if he had ever really loved her, being together for so many years. He had said never, that just the smell of opium on her made him sick and the sight of her made him want to vomit. In a fit of rage and heartbreak, she threw her briefcase into the pit. Present day, Gau Mui shows her granddaughter where her "Grandfather Sing" had been kneeling when she shot him. She climbs into the pit herself and is handed the briefcase that the workers found earlier in the day. The love letters she had written Lau Sing are still inside, though she admits that they are fake. The real object of sentimental value to her is an old grenade that she still keeps by her side. It was given to her by Lau Sing for protection. As she is leaving the pit, the reporters ask her if the rumors are true about her being a "King of Opium" or saving a lot of children. Gau Mui doesn't answer, only saying that it doesn't matter what people think of her. Indeed in 1941, she and Lau Sing had put many children onto a train to Hong Kong. When she passes away peacefully in 1994, still clutching the grenade in her hands, many of those children, now grown, come to pay their respects to her and to thank her for saving their lives despite not knowing who she really was or what she really did during the war.

AHH! This episode is toooo sweet already lah! >.< Gau Mui and Lau Sing, please, please, please stop driving me crazy! The starting... Lau Sing protects Gau Mui from the rebels (in her company). Gau Mui really looked touched ah! T_T I really love the look of gratitude she gave to Lau Sing. In the church, both of them were having some heart-to-heart talk with each other. I really loved the way Gau Mui imitated how Lau Sing saved her. *throws confetti* That was just so cute of her lah! How come Gau Mui is so cute?!?! >.<

I seriously think that Lau Sing is head-over-heels in love with Gau Mui! I really love how anxious he was about Gau Mui, like how he called her so many times to remind her not to worry, to remind her to take care of herself. <3 And ah, I love the part when Lau Sing looked super anxious when he realised that Fei Fan set up a trap for Gau Mui! <3

The only part I didn't really get was Ching Ching's diary. Did time pass so quickly, or she was doing a flashback? I did not find Ching Ching's diary boring, unlike some people. These are her thoughts; what she thought of the war, and what she thought of her family. I like it when she said that Lau Sing smiled more often when Gau Mui was around! <3 Implies something eh? xD

I love the last scene. It really shows how these people love their country, especially when they were singing that song. I don't think Gau Mui knew how to sing that song at first, but from the pained and relieved look (not sure if I'm describing it correctly or not) that she gave, I can feel her loyalty to her country. Great job there, Sheren!

Aww, this episode was totally awww... <3 I really love the Lau Sing - Gau Mui scenes! Gau Mui is really very cute when she's with Lau Sing! AHHH!!! And hmm, I think she likes Lau Sing too, but I don't really see much about her liking Lau Sing, apart from the fact that she keeps finding him in the church. xD But I can really tell that Lau Sing likes Gau Mui. How he looked distracted, how concerned he was about Gau Mui... Aww Lau Sing! <3 He was looking at Gau Mui when she took out her mirror to see how swollen her face had become, then Gau Mui looked super shy! Gau Mui was really very sweet-looking and cute in this part. *^^* *#&$^, these people are going to drive me mad ah!!! >.<

Gau Mui is so cute here! ^^

And the last scene of episode 12... Rosy Business deja vu again! o.O''' I still remember which episode of Rosy Business it was from: ending of episode 10. Hmm, but it's just that I thought Rosy Business's scene was much more intense and well, I prefer the Rosy Business's one. But Lau Sing is really very manly wor! ^^

*&^$#*, FEI FAN ESCAPED! THE JAPANESE HAVE ARRIVED! Long Gwan doesn't want to become a traitor! Episode 13 looks very intense! I hope it's really as intense as it looks! ^^

I won't be posting very detailed thoughts here, since I have to really study, so I apologise if my thoughts seem incoherent at times. >.<

Hmm, I was so anticipating Gau Mui's secret, because I thought it would be something else. But it turned out to be how and why she hated what her family was doing. =/ But still, I love Gau Mui and Lau Sing! <3 I think there is still something else that hasn't been answered since it was first brought up in episode 4 or 6. =/

Kara Hui did a great job as Yeung Yeung's mother here! I can totally feel her anxiety for her son! I really hope that her character gets more development!

Gau Mui's assistant... Do you guys think that she will betray her? I think she will leh... =/ Gosh, I shudder to think what will happen. >.< And heehee, the car scene was really very sweet ah! I think Lau Sing really likes Gau Mui! You must watch to know what he said. =P Gau Mui is really very pretty when she smiles. =D The church scene was also really very nice! I really can't wait to see how Gau Mui's and Lau Sing's relationship will develop! <3 And ah... Does Gau Mui really not have feelings for Lau Sing? *giggles* Lau Sing was being very direct with her LOL! xD I really feel some love sprouting out from the two of them! ^^

九姑娘,咁你唔好望住我笑,望住前面笑喇!

Enlarge to see this! It's time to fangirl! ^^

One main grouse from this episode: I really did not like the way the flashbacks was done... I find it very choppy. =X

But otherwise, MUTINY for the next episode! O.O'''
