Rosy Business 3 to start filming next year?

| Saturday, May 19, 2012 | 9 comments |
Mingpao Weekly #2271: Rosy Business 3 to start filming next year? It all lies with Sheren Tang and Lee Tim Shing.

Scans from Mingpao Weekly #2271

Sheren Tang and Wayne Lai won their TV King and Queen awards consecutively thanks to the dramas Rosy Business and No Regrets. These dramas had once fuelled a wave of drama-watching here and swept major awards in award ceremonies. TVB has the intention of preparing to film Rosy Business 3 (RB 3). However, once Sheren has finished filming Beauty at War, her contract with TVB will come to an end. Ricky Wong has also made known his intention to ask her to join his new company CTI. Sheren places great emphasis on money and good scripts, so it is not known what her next move will be. On top of that, golden producer Lee Tim Shing is said to be retiring at the end of this year, so in order for RB 3 to materialise, it has to overcome these 2 "hurdles" first.

Scans from Mingpao Weekly #2245

The charm of both Wayne Lai and Sheren Tang, who both won their TV King and Queen awards twice in a row, cannot be denied. Together with Teresa Mo, all three of them performed together in what Wayne termed as the 'date of the century'. He said that it was such a rare opportunity that all three of them, who are widely widely recognised as good actors, even got to showcase their acting skills. The ones who got to benefit the most were those fans who came from all over the world to see them perform; However, Wayne relishes all these. As for Sheren, she had an image makeover thanks to Mo Mo and showed off her feminine side...

Mingpao Weekly Entertainment Awards

TVBE news featuring all the No Regrets people

Wayne Lai and Sheren Tang attended the Mingpao Weekly Entertainment Awards 2011 together. Wayne won the 'Most Outstanding Actor' award based on No Regrets while Sheren Tang also won the 'Most Outstanding Actress' award based on the same drama. No Regrets also triumphed the other nominees by winning the 'Most Outstanding TV Programme'.

At the awards ceremony, Sheren and Wayne, who won the 'Most Outstanding Actor' and 'Most Outstanding Actress' awards together, were in a very good mood. They exhibited good chemistry in and outside the drama. After seeing their 'intimate' expressions, it was not surprising to see fans from both sides getting jealous.

Presenter: Ha Yu
Most Outstanding TV Programme: No Regrets
Most Outstanding TV Actor: Wayne Lai (No Regrets)
Most Outstanding TV Actress: Sheren Tang (No Regrets)
Most Outstanding TV Back-stage crew: Cheung Wah Biu, Chan Ching Yee (No Regrets)

Rosy Business 3 falls through

Cheung Wah Biu is not returning. Plans for Rosy Business 3 fall through. Wayne Lai is disappointed. Sheren Tang is thankful.

TVB has been trying to get the golden script-writer Cheung Wah Biu to return to TVB in October. He was supposed to be working with Tim Gor Lee Tim Shing, Wayne Lai, Sheren Tang and the rest of the original cast members on Rosy Business 3. However, we have received news that Cheung's boss, Jimmy Lai, wants him to stay. As such, he has decided not to return to TVB. As the main leads of the dramas, both Sheren Tang and Wayne Lai have very different reactions. Wayne was very disappointed and said, "I was so happy over nothing." Sheren said, "It will be better for Wah Biu to return at a later date, because it was so hard for War and Beauty to have a sequel. Should the filming dates of both dramas clash, it will really be such a pity."

Rosy Business series cast to reunite

Lau Sing and Gau Gu Leong were 2 characters which won the hearts of the viewers. Wayne Lai and Sheren Tang may just have the chance to film Rosy Business III.

Wayne Lai and Sheren Tang have Producer Lee Tim Shing to thank for winning their TV King and Queen awards.

Wayne Lai won his TV King award twice based on the series Rosy Business and No Regrets, and this is all due to Cheung Wah Biu developing on his characters. It is said that Cheung Wah Biu will be returning to TVB in October and will be working with Lee Tim Shing on Rosy Business III. When Wayne Lai learnt that the "iron triangle" (made up of Cheung, Lee and himself) will be reunited, he was very happy, and it doesn't seem hard for him to win his 3rd TV King.

When Wayne Lai and Sheren Tang cooperate with each other, the effect is tremendous!

Wayne admitted that working with Sheren gives him a sense of satisfaction. Their good chemistry is something which he is also aware of, not only the audience. However, in the coming year, this golden on-screen couple will have zero chances of working on a drama together. Wayne's Forensic Heroes 3 has a high chance of being an anniversary drama and he is looking forward to winning his 3rd TV King in a row. However, Sheren joked and said, "If I'm not there, it won't be the same anymore!"

Producer Lee Tim Shing: Still going strong after 40 years

| Tuesday, March 29, 2011 | 0 comments |
Tim Gor’s words of wisdom: “You can lose, but don't be defeated”

As a stagehand in the props and scenery department, Lee Tim Sing (Tim Gor) joined TVB in 1969 and today, has worked his way up to become TVB’s Golden Producer. With a career that spans more than 40 years, Tim Gor has endured the various ‘ups and downs’ of the HK television industry. Known for his impartiality and fairness, Tim Gor is a man who thinks and acts according to his convictions – rare (and unique) qualities in today’s complex television industry. At 64 years old, Tim Gor is as busy as ever – his focus right now is figuring out how to fulfill his 50 episode obligation in the 1 year that he has left with the company. These past few years, Tim Gor has been constantly saying: “It’s enough! Time for me to retire…” yet, the more he says it, the more his passion and ‘fire’ for producing seem to burn strong – for proof, just look at his persistence in casting Nikki Chow as the main lead for his new series <<My Cruel Lover>>. Originally, Nikki did not have any chance of starring in the series due to her contract with record company BMA [TN: now part of the HKRIA, which is still locked in a royalty dispute with TVB], however with Tim Gor refusing to change the female lead of the series and insisting that the role was made especially for her, Nikki was eventually able to relieve her contract with BMA and sign an acting contract with TVB.

Wayne Lai is the Fortune God, Sheren Tang learns to be sweeter

| Thursday, February 3, 2011 | 0 comments |

Today is the first day of the new year. 2-time TV King Wayne Lai, who has been in luck, dressed up as the Fortune God, and wished all readers of Mingpao Weekly a wealthy and prosperous new year! Wayne has been very lucky. At the start of the Rabbit year, he has already gone to Canada to attend a concert in hope of making more money for the new year. This year, he has 2 grand productions, Forensic Heroes 3 and The Great Eunuch under his name, which are highly anticipated by many people. He may just have the chance to win the TV King award again! However, fame is not as important as family ties to Wayne. His biggest wish is that he is able to take leave to go on a holiday with his wife and son.

Mingpao Weekly #2204 - Carrying on the Rosy Business spirit

No one can predict what happens when sparks of chemistry fly between Wayne Lai and Sheren Tang!

The male and female leads of the Rosy Business series were crowned their second Best Actor and Best Actress awards consecutively together, making history in the process. What is so special about these 2 is that, although they claim not to know each other very well and they have different personalities, but when they work together, the strong chemistry between them is undeniable. It is no wonder that the advertisers are willing to go all out to get this perfect on-screen couple together, even if it means persuading them for half a year. They are even required to film "bed scenes". This is certain to get the fans of Lau Sing and Gau Gu Leong crazy!

Comments: This will definitely satisfy fans of Sherayne! =D Both of them really look very at ease with each other! ^^ I really love how they look sooooo darn compatible with each other! When can we see them in a drama again??? =/

Sheren Tang - In search of her "Lau Sing"

| Sunday, January 23, 2011 | 8 comments |
The TV characters that Sheren Tang has played are all women with strong characters. Gau Gu Leong's viciousness has won the hearts of many; there's still 4th Wife, Hilda, Yu Fei and many other roles that leave the audience with a deep impression of her. In reality, Sheren appears to be very competitive. However, she does have a soft side to her, and wishes to be cared for as well. "What use is there for a woman to be strong?" Being a strong woman is just a facade, and this time round, Sheren lets people see the gentler side of her, and talks about romance.

Mingpao Weekly #2196: Why No Regrets lost the Best Drama award

| Monday, December 27, 2010 | 4 comments |

No Regrets did not managed to get the Best Drama award, and it was said that Tommy Leung's vote changed everything. When the 6 executives first voted, 3 voted for Can't Buy Me Love, 2 voted for No Regrets while Tommy voted for Mysteries of Love. Somebody else complained, so there was a second round of voting. This time round, Tommy voted for Can't Buy Me Love. Had he voted for No Regrets, both Can't Buy Me Love and No Regrets would have the same number of votes. By then, the higher number of votes that No Regrets had for audience voting would enable No Regrets to win the Best Drama award.

As for the My Favourite Male Character award, Moses Chan came in third, after Wayne Lai and Raymond Lam in the audience voting. The executives only considered Raymond and Wayne. In the end, because Wayne won the Best Actor award, they decided to give the award to Raymond instead.

Comments: Haha, it's pretty interesting to note how come they know who voted for what. Anyway, I wonder who were the other 3 goondoos did not vote for No Regrets, and who were the 2 who voted for No Regrets... This goes to show that the BVT executives can give the award to whoever they like (their vote accounts for 50% of the results LOL). =/

Mingpao Weekly #2197: Cheung Wah Biu loses faith in TVB

| Wednesday, December 22, 2010 | 4 comments |
Mingpao Weekly #2197 Shall We Talk? - Heart of Greed's, Moonlight Resonance's, Rosy Business', No Regrets' golden script-writer loses faith in TVB

Wayne Lai and Sheren Tang became the first couple to win the Best Actor and Best Actress awards consecutively, but one of the regrets of that night was that No Regrets did not get the Best Drama award. Script-writer Cheung Wah Biu could only shake his head. It is a pity that there's no chance next year, because he has already left TVB and joined Jimmy Lai's Next TV station in Taiwan. On the week of TVB's awards ceremony, he came back specially from Taiwan to witness the ceremony.

Shopping centres rush to be host venues for No Regrets' ending
Wayne Lai and Sheren Tang have not seen their new drama. This night, when it aired, everybody sat down to watch it together. Tim Gor was nervously standing behind the both of them and watching their reactions.

Last year's Rosy Business' grabbed the Best Drama, TV King, TV Queen, Best Supporting Actress and Most Improved Male Actor awards. This year, the original cast and crew came up with No Regrets. Even though the drama had not been aired yet, but its popularity cannot be denied. Many big shopping centres are now rushing to become host venues No Regrets' ending and have already named high prices to host it. Besides winning on the popularity side, it seems that TVB will be getting a lot of money as well!

OH MY GOSH! Can they please stop revealing the storyline for No Regrets?!?! During times like this, it's really a blessing not to know Chinese. >.< It's not as if the magazines just revealed a tiny part of it. IT'S ONE WHOLE BIG CHUNK (like the main parts of the story) PLUS the ending oh my gosh oh my gosh! =/ I wonder if this is one of TVB's tactics to keep people away from watching No Regrets... -.-'''

Mingpao Weekly #2185 - Last review

| Monday, September 27, 2010 | 0 comments |
Below is an excerpt from 朱乐言, who is writing his/her last piece for Mingpao Weekly, I suppose. =/

...There's still TVB, who is the dominant company of the media. However, the dominant company must also learn to adapt. These few days, this dominant firm has also lost its way.

Stephan Chan. Accusations of copying. Monopoly. The scandal about the 4 main singing companies. Raymond Lam's declining popularity. Miss Hong Kong being too fat...

If I go on, I'll never finish my last review.

Before bidding farewell, I should offer the TV audience some hope. There is still hope for Hong Kong television, because there are still TVB dramas.

Really? Are you sure that Can’t Buy Me Love really represents all that is good about TVB? From the beginning of the year till now, Can’t Buy Me Love is considered a rather good production, but if I were to choose the best out of the best, it will have to be No Regrets, which will be broadcasted on 18th October 2010. I guarantee, once this drama is broadcasted, it will ignite lively discussions throughout the whole of Hong Kong. Besides seeing whether Wayne Lai and Sheren Tang will be able to win their Best Actor and Best Actress awards again, there are also the main villains in the drama – the Japanese soldiers, who will be stamping on the pride of Chinese people. Who wouldn’t want to beat the Japanese soldiers?

I predict that No Regrets will be a success. If my hands are feeling itchy, may I have the honour to write the review for this drama?

Comments: I heard that he or she is a very prolific writer in Mingpao. If No Regrets really turns out to be a success, I would love to read his/her review on it as well! ^^

Tommy Leung battles Catherine Tsang!

| Saturday, September 18, 2010 | 0 comments |
Mingpao Weekly #2184 TVB Anniversary series draw swords - Tommy Leung battles Catherine Tsang

Every year, TVB's anniversary series will become the battle between the 2 biggest heads, Catherine Tsang and Tommy Leung. They battle ratings as well as performances. However, last year, Born Rich, which was under Tommy, was defeated by Catherine's Beyond the Realm of Conscience. Moreover, Catherine's series have been doing very well in ratings in recent years, so Tommy had to choice but to lose. For this year, Tommy had wanted to push Relic of an Emmisary to turn tables against Catherine, but now is intending to use Gun Metal Grey, which stars Felix Wong and Michael Miu to fend off a strong competitor from Catherine's side, No Regrets.

Comments: Wow! I'm really looking forward to both No Regrets and Gun Metal Grey, since both their storylines are really very attractive! Of course, I'm hoping for No Regrets to succeed even more! ^^ Hopefully they'll break the ratings record, since the last episode will be aired on a Sunday (28/11/2010), which will surely attract more people to watch. Go go go, No Regrets! Please really make this No Regrets! =D
