3 million viewers watch No Regrets' finale

Video from Apple Daily

TVB's popular drama No Regrets aired its final episodes the night before, with an average of 44 points, peaking at 47 points, with 3 million viewers accompanying Lau Sing (Wayne Lai) on his last journey. He passed away peacefully on Gau Mui's (Sheren Tang) shoulder while they were looking at the sunset. This scene alone accounted for 99% of the viewers, and caused ATV's programme to record 0 points in ratings.

The finale of No Regrets have not broken Dae Jang Geum's record of 50 points, but has already beaten Can't Buy Me Love. Producer Lee, Wayne Lai and Sheren Tang have expressed their happiness with the ratings. Producer Lee hopes that during the awards ceremony this coming Sunday, they will have good results.

Last week was the finale. The ratings for Monday to Friday averaged 34 points; ratings for Saturday averaged 35 points, peaking at 36 points; while the 2-hour finale on Sunday average 44 points, peaking at 47 points, with 3 million viewers catching the finale itself. However, on average, No Regrets got 33 points while Can't Buy Me Love got 34 points. Hence, Can't Buy Me Love is currently the highest-rated TVB drama for 2010.

TVB executive Tsang Sing Ming said that No Regrets has good ratings and reviews, and will treat the cast members to dinner on the 7th December 2010. Yesterday, the PR department also received letters of compliments from the viewers. 6 of them said that Lee Tim Shing did well and the drama was good; 2 said that this drama deserves to win prizes; 1 praised Wayne Lai and Fala Chen for their good acting. As for complaints, 2 of them complained that Fala Chen's storyline dragged on for too long; 2 said that a more experienced actress should take on Fala's role; another 2 said that not much promotion was being done to notify people of the finale for this drama.

Lee Tim Shing is happy with the ratings, and he hopes that this drama will get the Best Drama award. He said, "This has nothing to do with me producing this drama, but this drama is exceptional as this is a drama that TVB seldom makes. Both the male and female leads should get their prizes, and I believe that everybody can see it for themselves." As for losing to Can't Buy Me Love in overall average ratings, Producer Lee thinks that Can't Buy Me Love has a wider range of audience, and that more children watch this drama.

Wayne Lai is satisfied with the ratings even though it's not able to break Dae Jang Geum's record. This is because the situation now is different from that of last time. He believes that he won't be able to break that record in his lifetime, so having 47 points is already good enough. As for whether he wants to film a Rosy Business 3, he said, "I think it's not possible."

Comments: I'm glad to see that No Regrets has done well in ratings, but not breaking Dae Jang Geum's record is still a regret. But still, congratulations to No Regrets! ^^ It's ratings well-deserved! =D

If No Regrets loses to Dae Jang Geum

| Monday, November 29, 2010 | 15 comments |

According to the media, both the final episodes of Someday and No Regrets were aired at TVB City yesterday. Everybody hopes that No Regrets will beat Korean drama Dae Jang Geum's record of 50 points. Sheren Tang said, "If the ratings can't beat Dae Jang Geum, I will write Cheng Gau Mui backwards." Wayne Lai also added, "My name, Lau Sing, will also be written backwards."

Thoughts on Episode 31 and 32

Oh-my-gawd! I can't believe that I've just watched the ending for No Regrets. 7 words: Absolutely no regrets in watching this drama. =D Actually, I think this post would be more on my own thoughts than thoughts of the episodes. xD

就算係相處時間得一秒鍾, 都已經係一生一世。

The above quote aptly describes both Ching Yeung's and Sing Gau's relationships.

There were many, many touching scenes that make tears well up in my eyes. I really admire how Lau Sing and Gau Mui stood by each other no matter what. 30 years is definitely not a short time. But their one moment together is a moment of eternity. I simply love it. =)

I'm not going to say much, because I'm still in a loss. I can't believe that from today onwards, I won't have a drama to look forward to. Since 18th October 2010, I've been diligently watching this drama and recording down what I thought of each episode even though I was preparing for my As. But as I watched the countdown timer tick by last night, a sense of sadness overwhelmed me. About one year has passed since I finished watching Rosy Business and anticipating No Regrets' broadcast. Everything related to No Regrets has become part and parcel of my life for this whole year. I even signed up for Weibo just to stalk the No Regrets' cast members. xD And I agree with what the people in the Hong Kong forum say - I see in them, very strong teamwork and unity, something which I rarely see in other dramas. It shows in the drama itself, because all of them exhibit chemistry together (maybe due to collaborating with each other in Rosy Business). I'm pretty sure that they all had fun filming with each other. Even Tim Gor said, the third and fourth-line artistes also gave their all, and this is evident, because I really saw it myself.

I enjoy this drama, and I enjoy penning down my thoughts and sharing them with you people! Lastly, I would like to thank you guys for your support (in one way or another). It's been nice knowing you people and knowing your thoughts on this drama! =D

This drama definitely lives up to its English title, "No Regrets", and its Chinese title, 巾幗梟雄之義海豪情. To be honest, I thought the English name was pretty cheesy at first, but after watching the ending, I must say that it fits this drama very well. Have no regrets in doing whatever you want to do - that's the message of this drama. 義海豪情 - I really love how the various characters in this drama stood up to fight against the Japanese, stood up to help each other in times of need. And they dared to love despite all odds. It's really 今生無憾 for them. A very fitting closure to this drama, in my opinion. ='(

Next Sunday will be TVB's Award ceremony. 義氣仔女們, we shall continue to support No Regrets. I will continue to post anything related to No Regrets in this blog as long as there's news, so fret not, this blog won't die even when the drama ends. =)

但願人長久, 千里共蟬娟!

myTV views for last night! Another new record! ^^

NO REGRETS FOR BEST DRAMA 2010! <333

Thoughts on Episode 30

| Sunday, November 28, 2010 | 2 comments |
2 more episodes before this drama ends! =( By the way, episodes 31 and 32 will be broadcasted TODAY, from 9.30 pm to 11.30 pm, so let's see our Sing Gau one last time before we bid farewell to them, and to this drama. I feel very sad now. ='(

Episode 30 was very very sweet! <3 I totally adore Sing Gau! <3 The way Gau Mui rushed back just to get the hand-grenade was sooooo adorable, reason given is that she likes that one the most! ^^ The way Sing Gau "bicker" over small little things is just tooo sweet lah! <3333333 *higher blood glucose level*

Gau Mui is really very cute here! ^^

Why did Long Hei admit that Siu Hong is her son so easily? I thought she was going to lie her way through. But then, I also don't see how she could lie her way through since Gau Mui has already told the truth to Long Gwan before that. Gau Mui and Long Hei have made up, but is this for real? =/

Ching Ching is dying... I feel quite sad for her. ='( Haiz... I think we're in for a weepfest for the remaining 2 episodes! ='(

myTV views have risen again! ^^ Go go go, No Regrets! ^^

Calling all 義氣仔女, 我地一定要支持義海豪情!May No Regrets break the ratings records! <3 All the best! Love from, all of us 義氣仔女! <33333

Thoughts on Episode 29

Oh my, only 3 more episodes before this drama ends! =( Oh yes, episode 30 will be broadcasted TODAY, so be sure to watch it if you can! =D

I feel really sorry for Gau Mui. Stupid Lai Wah, I really hate her! Why must she be such a blabbler-mouth?! -.-''' But that's Lai Wah's way of getting back at Gau Mui, I supposed. Poor Gau Mui. She's being misunderstood by all her family members.

I love the church scene, which is solely on Sing Gau alone. Lau Sing is feeling really very helpless about Ching Ching's illness. It breaks my heart to see how sad and worried he was over Ching Ching, and how helpless he was as he leaned against Gau Mui's shoulders! *squeals* But they have been quarrelling every now and then. It makes me feel so sad. ='(

Ching Ching and Yeung Yeung's scenes were quite touching today, but I thought it could have been shorter, because more could have been said about the Cheng family. I was really touched by Lai Sim's little speech to Ching Ching though. ='(

The ending of the episode is the best! I want to know what happens next! Last 3 episodes, it'd better be good.

myTV ratings increased again! =D

AND LOL! Shops are even closing early so that their workers can go back home and watch No Regrets! xDDDDD

Thoughts on Episode 28

Oh my oh my! Lau Sing, can I please kill you? T_T And argh, Gau Mui! Why can't you open your mouth! >.<

But actually, those few scenes were pretty romantic haha! <3 You can really feel that they want (so much) to be together, but they have their own troubles and problems to solve as well. Haiz... Their longing for each other is really so powerful! Their eyes do convey what they feel though their actions may not. But this is what is driving me crazy! @_@ And woohoo! In the next episode, I see Lau Sing lying on Gau Mui's shoulder?!?! Are my eyes playing tricks on me?!?! *fan-girls again*

I hate Lai Wah, I really do! >.< I love it when Gau Mui kept calling her "step-mother"! xD That was so full of sarcasm! =D If I want to suan people, this is really one good way (her expressions and tone) to do it! =P

The next episode looks very nice! <333 More Sing Gau please! =D

A new record again! May the views hit >2 million everyday! =D

Eileen Cha: Fei Fan has hopes of getting Best Supporting Actor?

Eileen Cha: Does Fei Fan have a chance of getting Best Supporting Actor?
No Regrets has made Pierre Ngo (Pai Guat) and Evergreen Mak (Fei Fan) popular. In my programme, most netizens have voted Evergreen Mak to be this year's Best Supporting Actor. Why is his role so popular? What is Fei Fan's reaction?

Eileen Cha: Evergreen Mak -- Because of this role, he has 11 interviews in 3 days
Cha: When you accepted the role of Fei Fan, did you expect the reception to be that good?
Mak: No, and I never thought of it. So long as I act my role well. I don't even think about the award, because it's very painful. After this, I've finally understood. I don't act just for the sake of getting a prize. So long as I act my role well, I'm happy.

Fei Fan's role made him very popular. He said, "In 3 days, I've already accepted 11 interviews, and I was really afraid that I won't be able to generate much discussion. When I go out, people start calling me Fei Fan Gor, and organisers have invited me to various ribbon-cutting ceremonies. I have also more offers for dramas, but I've rejected them, because I do not want to be away from my family for too long, especially when I have 2 children who are between 6 to 8 years old."

I sincerely wish that Evergreen Mak will get this year's Best Supporting Actor, because he is worth it.

Comments: I agree! ^^ I think Pierre will have his chance later on in life, but Evergreen Mak has been in many dramas but had no recognition up till now. He may not get this chance again! This year is Evergreen's year! =D

Hopes No Regrets can beat Dae Jang Geum

Wayne Lai and Sheren Tang accepted a radio interview by RTHK to promote for the finale of their series "No Regrets." Although average ratings of "No Regrets" is not as high as Charmaine Sheh and Moses Chan's "Can't Buy Me Love," but Wayne still hopes the series' highest rating can beat rating of Korean drama "Dae Jang Geum," he said: "Can't let it have the record of highest rating. Hope everyone can support local productions."

Sheren expressed she watched Wong Cho Lam's kuso remake of "No Regrets" and she said: "He is not defaming me. I absolutely don't mind about it. He made it so funny and his expressions are like my character's. If I don't have time to film series, he can replace me." Sheren expressed she is attending to this year's anniversary awards ceremony. Asked whether it is because she is notified that she is the winner of TV Queen, she and Wayne both said they do not know the final result until the last minute.

Earlier Felix Wong accused TVB did not promote series "Gun Metal Grey" enough, Wayne said he does not know about any inside story but hopes everyone can understand TVB's variety department, which is in charged of the anniversary show. He said: "The idea for the anniversary is fun and gimmick. It's hard to look over to every series."

Sheren expressed "No Regrets" and "Gun Metal Grey" both only held two promotion events. It is just Wayne attended more individual events that caused the misunderstanding that "No Regrets" received more promotions. It is said TVB is planning to do more promotions for "Gun Metal Grey," Sheren said: "They received attention after just one say, it's a good thing."

I won't translate the article here, but I will post some news regarding the article as my comments.

Comments: Yes, I wish No Regrets all the best! =D Even Felix Wong is supporting Sheren and Wayne to get this year's Best Actress and Best Actor! ^^ This year, 20% of the votes will come from the producers, 30% from the audience and 50% from the jury. Let's wish No Regrets all the best! ^^

Comments: Haha, I really think that Sheren is very cute! <3 I agree that Sheren has a very very imposing presence in the drama. To be honest, I did fear Gau Mui for the first few episodes. There are just too many facades to her character that I found her very intimidating. xD And I totally LOL-ed when she said that she needs a Mr Right who is able to protect her from the paparazzi and the cameras! That's just so cute of her! xD

Thoughts on Episode 27

Gau Mui looks very pretty when her hair is not so permed! xD It gives her a gentler look! ^^ But when her hair is permed, she gives the don't-you-dare-mess-around-with-me feel, which I really like as well! xD And heehee, even Chow Tit knows that there’s something going on between Gau Mui and Lau Sing. xD

The Japanese have finally surrendered! I think the part-time artistes, especially the Wing Yip bank boss, did really well in these scenes. Maybe that’s because they have personally gone through the Japanese Occupation, that’s why I can really feel their joy at being liberated from the Japanese.

Fei Fan died, but not peacefully. I kind of pitied him despite him causing all the trouble and mayhem for the past-I-dunno-how-many episodes. =(

And wow, Pai Guat and Lau Sing are really so handsome in this episode, especially Pai Guat LOL! I totally felt so happy for him when he literally PUMPED bullets into Tetsuya. O.O'''

Brilliant show put up by Gau Mui again during the last few scenes. xD I bet Long Hei feels irritated by now. xD And Long Gwan isn’t as stupid as I thought haha. =P Kudos to Sheren Tang for the change in expression at the end of the episode! ._.

And wow, I'm just in awe of the trailer for the next episode! I can't wait for episode 28!! =D

Thoughts on Episode 26

Yes! This episode was pretty epic! ^^

I really loved how Lau Sing managed to save Gau Mui! Oh, and the way he shot that stupid Japanese soldier was cool! <3 It was pretty touching when they raised their hands and made the V sign. =)

And aww... The Sing Gau scenes were totally soooooo sweet! *blood glucose level rises* Gau Mui really looked jealous when Lau Sing said that he had given the other hand grenade to somebody else. xD Haha, there was still quite a long pause before Lau Sing finally answered her. Was that on purpose? xDDDDDD But aww, Gau Mui really looked very happy and relieved when Lau Sing revealed the truth. ^^ That's just too sweet of them! Lau Sing was really very patient when he taught her how to use the hand grenade! =D Sweetness to the max! <3333

Dear Sing Gau, please continue to make my blood glucose level rise! <3

Although I find Tachiya freaky, but I understand that he is really obsessed with Ching Ching, to the point of him calling her "his goddess". O.O''' I felt kind of sad that he had to go this way, but if he didn't look that perverted in the earlier episodes, I would have symphatised with him more. xP

This episode threw up many more questions, which I hope can be answered in time, since only 6 more episodes remain before this drama ends.

Who exactly is Long Hei, and who exactly is Siu Hong?

Why did Fei Fan had a change of heart?

Watch on to find out more! =)

Thoughts on Episode 25

| Tuesday, November 23, 2010 | 3 comments |
I love, and hate this episode at the same time. Episode 25 COULD HAVE been another great episode. Nearly everything was good, except for the stupidity of the script in the middle of the episode. -.-'''

I really didn't like the part where Ching Ching, Yeung Yeung and Pai Guat were throwing the buns over the fence! I blame it on the script-writer. I don't mind if they threw the first few buns over the fence, since they probably never expected a mad rush for the buns. But when the prisoners rushed over, they should have just passed the bun to Gau Mui through the holes in the fence. I'm pretty sure the bun would have gotten through! >.< But then again, I think Gau Mui's bun would have been snatched away by those people again. -.-'''

But I like this scene as well (if I ignore the flaws), because it really showed the true nature of the people. People can do anything just to survive. That's what I like about this drama as well, because it really portrays what people went through at that time. I can really feel for them. Though there were not many scenes on the Japanese soldiers ill-treating them, but they, as famished prisoners who have been forced into hard labour, would just do anything just to survive and see their country regain the glory it once had.

By the way, the conditions of the concentration camp was quite different from what my impression of it was! o.O''' I expected worse conditions. Hmm, and it's quite surprising that they actually allowed visitors. ._. Maybe this is a concentration camp for people who went against the Japanese, but had higher social status than the rest of the common folks. Maybe that is why the conditions of the concentration camp didn't look all that bad to me. =P

The guy who flashed the "victory" sign... I feel really sad that he could not get to see his country triumph against the Japanese, but then again, he died knowing that his country would be victorious soon. Very nice effect here... It feels really very movie-like...

I really feel very sad for Gau Mui. My heart aches for Gau Mui. Everybody in Dong Tai (except for Chow Tit) has turned against her. She is dying from malaria. I really love the letter that she wrote to Lau Sing at the end of the episode. It was really a very sad, but poignant moment. I realised how much I missed 4th Wife's diary-reading moments! ^^ Ching Ching's diary-reading moments totally pale in comparison to 4th Wife's and Gau Mui's. =) That's the power of Sheren Tang! ^^

Dang, next episode looks epic! More more, I want more! ^^

Something random, but you guys won't believe that I actually spent $27.15 (that's slightly cheaper than the cost of sending a parcel LOL!) just to send a 7g letter to my cousin in Hong Kong. Why? Recap: Ep 8 - Ching Ching Relapses

| Saturday, November 20, 2010 | 2 comments |
How can Fei Fan be so creepy...? This episode really made me shiver in disgust.

Mrs. Yeung is worried about Yeung Yeung going back to work as a policeman and opposes it until Lau Sing, along with the other men, proudly states that it was the police chief who saved their jobs and insisted they return immediately. Dong Lei grows quiet at the lie and when she is alone with Lau Sing later, she tests him again about his story. When he stands by his lie, she blames him for never telling her the truth and asks him one last time. With no other choice, Lau Sing reveals that the reason they have their jobs back is actually because Gau Mui helped him. Dong Lei, still thinking that it was actually Fei Fan's help, gets even more upset. She finally reveals her version of the story and Lau Sing gets furious, as he usually does when Fei Fan comes up as a subject. They fight once again...

Great start to the anniversary gala! Let Gor does a little skit about gala tickets and does crossovers with all the big shows of the year including Can't Buy Me Love and No Regrets! I really like how they kept the intro part shorter this year. The songs were not as catchy but it was a good start. ^^

Thoughts on Episode 24

| Friday, November 19, 2010 | 0 comments |
Wow! There are so many tags on my tag-board! I have just finished my dinner and my Econs paper 1 (about 3 hours ago), so sorry for my late post! xD

Episode 24 was really very sad! ='( I feel Gau Mui's anguish and pain. Does anybody feel that Gau Mui looks very pretty when she cries? I really think she looks very nice when she cries. Sorry, I'm crazy! xD

And aww, Lau Sing is still thinking about Gau Mui even though he's half-conscious. =P

The boat scene in this episode totally reminded me of the last scene of episode 25 in Rosy Business. xD I'm sure many Rosy Business fans picked out this similarity as well, only that I love how Lau Sing wanted soooo much to see Gau Mui for the last time before he leaves. <3 They didn't really say much, but their eyes totally... *faints after seeing their sizzling chemistry*

Gau Mui and Long Hei makes up, but erm, I'm highly suspicious of Long Hei, especially after seeing the EPIC trailer for next Monday's episode!

I really love how much effort they put into making such a simple trailer. If it was meant to have a movie effect, they definitely succeeded, because I felt awed. o.O'''

OK, very intense episode coming up!

Trailer for episode 25.

I love the last phrase that Lau Sing said to Gau Mui! "If we live, we live together. If we die, we die together!" <3 Long Hei is scary, really scary! 殺! >.< Even Ching Ching looks very fierce all of a sudden! ._.

Epic much? Bring it on, No Regrets! =D

Eileen Cha: Wrong timing affects No Regrets' ratings

A bold guess: Wrong timing affects No Regrets' ratings?
No Regrets, being the most anticipated drama of 2010, has gotten rave reviews. An online survey conducted on my website has revealed that netizens support Sheren Tang to get Best Actress, Evergreen Mark to be Best Supporting Actor and No Regrets to get the Best Drama award. I relayed this good news to No Regrets' producer Lee Tim Shing, and found out that he was actually not happy with No Regrets being put at the 8.30 pm slot. Why? He has also decided not to film a sequel. Why?

Lee Tim Shing - If the drama can be put at 9.30 pm, it'll be better
Lee Tim Shing is being very frank here. He said that he was not happy about No Regrets being placed at the 8.30 pm slot. "If the drama was put at 9.30 pm, there would at least be 2 points (he was talking about ratings) more, and that would have met our expectation of 34 points."

Cha: Why didn't you guys fight for it?
Lee: We have a model to follow: If the drama is still filming, everyone must listen to the producer. If the drama has finished filming, it is considered the company's asset, and everything will be decided by the company. The production crew has no say in this. There was once where I received 2 pieces of news. Somebody once told me that No Regrets would be aired at the 9.30 pm slot. After that, it was changed to 8.30 pm.

Cha: Netizens believe that it is TVB's ploy to make Can't Buy Me Love the highest-rated TV drama for this year, that's why No Regrets is being placed at the 8.30 pm slot to bring down the ratings. Do you agree with this?
Lee: First of all, I would like to thank everybody for their support. I'm pretty sure that the company won't do this, because every drama is considered as the company's assets. No Regrets must be shown at the 8.30 pm slot, because the type of theme that Gun Metal Grey has can only be shown at the 9.30 pm slot.

Cha: Will you film a sequel?
Lee: It is possible, but we would have to find another producer, because filming this "heavy" drama is too tiring for us already. Me and my script-writers have worked behind closed doors for 9 months, for 8 to 9 hours everyday (including weekends) before we managed to finish the scripts. We have to plan the outline of the story, the character of every single role and even their lines. My colleagues and I have really worked our guts out, and I can't bear to put them through such a tiring process again.

P.S. Wayne Lai has also emerged as the netizens' choice for Best Actor after Eileen Cha realised that some Raymond Lam fans have signed up for multiple accounts to vote for him. She has nullified their votes, so Wayne ends up being the winner! Congratulations! ^^

Comments: Indeed, everybody has put in their all for this drama, and it is very evident! Ratings aren't indicative of a drama's quality, but still, I hope the ratings will continue to increase, since that is what everybody involved in this drama is hoping for! Do continue to support No Regrets in every way you can, be it through postings in the forums, blogs or other media platforms. It is what we can do, as fans, to show our appreciation to them, who have slogged so hard in order to present a drama that educates our minds and touches our hearts. To Mr Lee and everybody involved in No Regrets, I would really like to say a BIG THANK YOU for this drama! <3

Fala's thoughts

@Fala Chen: I am really looking forward to Ching Ching's scenes in episode 23, where she sacrifices herself using her body. This scene will be an important turning point. Some people say that Tachiya is a pervert. The Japanese themselves like to rape whoever they see, but Tachiya is someone who is just happy to have Ching Ching's love in order to satisfy his lust. Ching Ching cannot resist because she has to save her loved ones. She is clever, so she puts on a show for Tachiya, to let him know that her heart has died and that she has given up on herself. She succeeds in making Tachiya leave the room.

There is a Gau Mui in Hong Kong

While I was at the gym, I caught the last 15 minutes of episode 19 of No Regrets, so I felt the need to watch episode 20 so as to satisfy my curiosity. After watching that, I will continue to watch the remaining 10 episodes - No, I have not lost to TVB. I've lost to Sheren Tang.

Even though I couldn't be bothered about TV dramas now, I have to admit that the last scene in episode 20 was really intense! Sheren's acting skills is really way beyond what you call good. This kind of drama, this kind of character - only Sheren has the right and experience to play such a role. Be it whether she said "Go ask Hades to bow to you!" or the smile that she gave at the end of the episode, these are not just acting alone. It is what she has gone through for the previous half of her life. She had to grow up in a broken family, loved somebody who was already married, endure setbacks in her acting career. All these have culminated in her brilliant acting skills today which everybody recognises today. When God arranges for you to suffer, it seems like He has other plans as well.

Sheren is still very strong. When the newspapers reported that she rejected TVB and increased her pay during the filming of No Regrets, she also hinted that she won't be coming back for the awards ceremony unless she got the Best Actress award. Sheren doesn't have any illustrious background to speak of, and she doesn't have the backing of big companies like TVB. She doesn't have a husband who's a millionaire, nor is she the mistress of a rich tycoon. Still, she is able to say "No!" to a TV company that has monopolised the TV industry in Hong Kong. That "One woman against the world" attitude truly fits Gau Mui, and belongs to Gau Mui alone.

Episode 23

#23 is a landmark episode.

In many ways, it is an intense turning point in Lau Sing and Gau Mui's relationship. Faced with the potential execution of Lau Sing, Gau Mui's true feelings towards him are revealed. To Lau Sing, it seems like another one of her confusing plots. Because he trusts her, he follows her lead and puts on a heartbreaking show for the Japanese. But there is no denying that there is true emotion in the way he admits that he never wants to be without her.

As for Gau Mui, her ability to spin half-truths and half-lies touches Tetsuya's heart and earns her multiple visits to Lau Sing's cell to carry out her plan to save him. Her fury is fake but her tears for him are real. As are her prayers: "Please help me... If Lau Sing dies tomorrow and I am left all alone... I really won't know what to do..."

Oh my! This episode is really very, very sad and touching. ='( Oh, and intense as well! This drama really gets better and better as the episodes go by. ^^

Oh my oh my! I can only use 戲假情真 to describe this episode, especially the part where Gau Mui lied her way through in order to see Lau Sing. What she said was all lies, but when she said, "Lau Sing, what will happen to me if you die?", the background music totally changed and that was when I knew Gau Mui was feeling true. Gosh, this pair is really going to drive me crazy! That HUG - that hug we've been waiting for since episode 1, the hug we've been waiting for it to materialise ever since Rosy Business aired last year, totally made my jaw dropped and made me squeal! It was so strong, so firm, and so full of feelings! <3 I really love these 2, I really do, and it makes me sad to see that both of them can't bear to part with each other. It makes me even sadder when I know that I would probably not see these 2 act together again. ='(

Does Tetsuya like Gau Mui? He looked very jealous and sounded very angry when Gau Mui said that Lau Sing is her man. <3

And I'm not sure of what to think about Tetsuya's brother... He did look very creepy, but when Ching Ching offered herself to him, not only did he not take advantage of her, he also walked out of the room himself. So? Comments on him, anybody? =/

Oh yes, I have to comment on Gau Mui's trench-coat when she was able to shoot Lau Sing! xD It looks so damn pretty on her! <3 But heehee, how come fashion in the 1940s already look so much like fashion now? xD Gau Mui's wearing the trench-coat that I saw at Mango 2 years back! She makes me feel like buying it even more even though it costs nearly $300 and I have practically no use for it. >.<

Love these 2, I really do! <3

9 more episodes before this great drama ends. ='(

Recap: Ep 6 - Siu Hong Plots Against Gau Mui

Such a long and convoluted episode... whew!

Gau Mui proudly announces that she is loyal above all and assures the policemen she will help them in the future if Fei Fan causes them grief again. Lau Sing and the other men leave the Cheng house and walk home, excitedly discussing all the extra money they are going to get back from Fei Fan which amounts to $987. However Lau Sing is still worried by Gau Mui's way of changing mood without warning. He is greatly disturbed by the way she goes from anger at his story of Choi Hing to kindness and willingness to help them to the way she threatened Fei Fan... Confused, Yeung Yeung wonders how Gau Mui was able to follow up on Lau Sing's story about Macau when it was obviously a lie. Pai Guat says it seemed like they had practiced in advance, like they were on the same wavelength. But Lau Sing explains that is exactly why she is so frightening and why they should stay away from her.

This episode is really very exciting, and very intense! o.O''' There are so many things going on now. By the way, who thinks that Tetsuya (the Japanese commander; I finally found out his name) is a little too playful? He's really very playful, but in a rather cruel way as well. =X Thank goodness both he and Lau Sing's gun-firing skills are not bad. >.<

But there is definitely more to Tetsuya's character... Who was the Japanese girl who was standing outside the telephone booth?

Who is the seemingly nice Japanese soldier who talked to Ching Ching in the hospital? I thought he was really a genuine nice guy, until I saw the perverted look on his face. ._.

The church scene where Gau Mui and Lau Sing met each other to discuss about the danger they were in... It makes me feel sad, knowing that both of them will be in great danger in time to come. I wonder if they will ever get to see each other again... T_T

Why did Lau Sing suddenly get arrested? Did it have to do with the Japanese girl outside the telephone booth?

Lau Sing is really, really in great danger!! How will he escape this?! T_T Gosh gosh gosh... Waiting for the next episode is really going to kill me! >.<

Recap: Episode 5 - Gau Mui and Lau Sing's Chemistry

Sorry about the delay in recaps, guys! Just finished exams so I'm desperately trying to catch up with them asap... because it's approaching the end of the show! :(

I have also been talking to some people who said I should post recaps to the most recent episodes first for those that can't understand Chinese and still want to know what happened in detail during these more suspenseful episodes. If anyone has any comments or suggestions about this, please leave a message!

Long Guan stands on Gau Mui's side and fights against Long Hei. Gau Mui tries to calm him down by assuring him that even without those employees, the world won't stop spinning and Dong Tai won't stop making money from the opium dens. She will take care of it all. Long Hei leaves, utterly furious. Gau Mui knows the business will be affected by Long Hei's little ploy and proceeds to incite a plan of her own. She meets with Fei Fan and explains to him that opium has become hard to find these days. She wants Fei Fan and his policemen to help her find and arrest opium smugglers, then sell it back to her. She will pay him 20% more than the current market price. Also, for every 10 pounds of opium found, she will give $100 bonus to them. Fei Fan happily agrees.

Recap: Episode 4 - Long Hei Dissatisfied With Gau Mui

Note: I have started to keep my screenshots in full HD (1280 x 720 dimensions) so feel free to click on them to enlarge if you want to save any. ^^

Just as Long Guan is about to kill Pai Guat, Gau Mui spots a man with a crooked neck at the back of the room. She stops Long Guan and commands Zhou Tit and Ah Sum to close all the exits of the hall so that no one can enter or leave. She then asks Pai Guat to see if he can recognize anyone he knows in the room. If he can't point out the real killer, then he will have to die. Both Long Guan and Long Hei are confused by Gau Mui's interruption but they let her continue. Pai Guat searches the room with Lau Sing's help... Finally he sees the man with the crooked neck and points him out. The man accused is pointed out to be Siu Git's accountant for many years, Choi Hing. Dai Fung is angered by the ridiculous notion that Choi Hing would kill his own employer. But with no hesitation at all, Choi Hing admits that he is the killer, shocking everyone in the room. He tells Long Guan that he is ready to die for his crime but wanted to let him know that his precious son fully deserved it. Choi Hing recounts the story of his wife's death. She was 2 months pregnant when he brought her to live with him from the rural areas of China. But one day at his office, Siu Git saw her and then sent Choi Hing off on a 3 day business trip. When the trip didn't pan out, Choi Hing returned home and saw that Siu Git had raped his wife during this time. Siu Git threatened him and warned him not to tell anyone. Choi Hing's wife, under great stress and depression, committed suicide soon after. The mood in the room is sombre after the tale and many people, including Gau Mui, have tears in their eyes.

日本萬衰...萬衰,慢慢衰!

Lol, I totally LOL-ed at this episode! It’s really very funny! I can’t believe that I actually laughed at such a serious drama! xD

I really love how the relationship between Gau Mui and Lau Sing is developing! Ahh, how can they be so compatible and so sweet together?! >.< *blood glucose level rises again* I definitely need more GLUT2 to make my cells more permeable to sugar rushes! xD
